Mantras: Meanings and Translations

A mantra is the creative projection of the human mind. Mantras are formulas that change the chemistry of the mind and balance the hemispheres of the brain.



Ong Namo Gurudev Namo

Ong = the syllable of creation
Namo = bowing or paying reverance to
Guru = that which brings us from darkness to Light
Dev = unseen, invisible, beyond

The Adi Mantra. Chanted before practicing Kundalini Yoga to “tune in” to the yogic vibration and open your higher consciousness to receive the teachings.

Guru Guru Wahe Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru

This Guru mantra projects the mind to infinity, then allows a finite guiding relationship to come into your practical activities. The first part (Guru Guru Wahe Guru) projects the mind to the source of knowledge and ecstasy. The second part (Guru Ram Das Guru) means “the wisdom that comes as a servant of the Infinite.
